Visit Armagh

The countdown has started.  It’s just 2 WEEKS until the start of the biggest Festival in Ireland.  Armagh Planet Earth Festival will run throughout June, July and August this year in Armagh.

Saturday 29th May, bank holiday weekend will kick-start festivities in Armagh Mall, Market Square and Navan Centre with the Planet Earth Picnic.  Bring your teddy bear, bring your picnic rug (or collapsible chair!) and bring a picnic to a very COOL summer party starting at 12noon.  Dance workshops, a samba led carnival, stilt walkers and great music on the Mall or a free tour of the Navan Centre; all set in the backdrop of the prestigious Earth from the Air outdoor exhibition which has toured the world (Paris, London, Chicago, Sydney, Singapore) and is bound for the first time to Ireland, arriving in Armagh.

The high quality FREE exhibition is a collection of large scale photographs (the size of a double bed), taken by celebrated French photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand to mark the Millennium and beyond.  It studies our environment and the impact man has made on it in a series of 120 stunning pictures taken around the world from the air and presented on specially built plinths.  A large world floor map to walk on, will be situated on the Mall.

Throughout the three months there will be dance and sports events on the Mall and music in the Market Square at weekends. The Market Place Theatre and the Navan Centre will be running special workshops and programmes and of course the Armagh Planetarium has a wonderful array of shows and activities for all ages.
